About
Felicia Ann Castro is a multidisciplinary artist who works in painting, video, photography and other materials. She is from Las Cruces, New Mexico and obtained an BFA with a minor in Art History from New Mexico State University and an MFA from Georgia State University. Her work explores interdependence, philosophies of enlightenment and assimilation.
Felicia grew up in large Mexican American family, has traveled the world extensively and practices Vipassana Meditation. Her research is inspired by life experiences which include the duality of the spiritual and material as well as the corporeal and mental.
In her recent body of work she unravels what it is to live between two cultures, and how assimilation to the American culture had nearly erased her Mexican heritage. In Menudo & Lucky Charms she revisits family traditions, memories and reclaims apects of her culture that have faded away.
